The official photo released by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reveals that the private ceremony was attended by Prince William and his wife Catherine as well as the late Princess Diana's sisters.

AceShowbiz - Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry are "overjoyed" with happiness as their first child Archie was christened.

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, who was born on 6 May, was baptised by the Archbishop of Canterbury in front of 25 close family members and friends in the private chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday, July 06.

Prince William, and his wife Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, also attended but they were not thought to have brought their three children - George, five, Charlotte, four, and one-year-old Louis.

The Queen did not attend due to a prior engagement, however Meghan's mother Doria Ragland was at the christening, alongside Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.

Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale - the sisters of Harry's mother, the late Princess Diana - were pictured in an official photograph taken at the christening that was later released by the couple on social media, along with another touching black-and-white snap of the new Sussex family.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to share the happiness of this day, and would like to thank everyone around the world for their ongoing support," a spokesman for the couple said.

"They feel so fortunate to have enjoyed this special moment with family and Archie's godparents."

Meghan and Harry bucked Royal protocol and chose to exclude the press and public from Archie's special day, and also decided to keep the names of their son's godparents private.
