Through a video she shared on her social media account, the 'When You're Gone' singer urges her followers to check her website to see the dates of her 'Head Above Water' tour.

AceShowbiz - Avril Lavigne is preparing to take to the stage for the first time in five years after announcing dates for a North American tour on Monday, June 24.

The Canadian singer, who has has been battling Lyme Disease since 2014, confirmed the news with a video on Twitter.

"Hey everyone, I am so excited! I am so excited to be announcing the 'Head Above Water' tour; it's finally here!" she told her fans. "You guys can go to my website to see the tour dates and gain access to the pre-sale tickets."

Lavigne will kick off the trek on 14 September in Seattle, Washington and has dates lined up in Los Angeles and New York City, before wrapping up the 15-date tour in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 11 October.

The tour will support her latest album, "Head Above Water", which was released in February.

Lavigne was diagnosed with Lyme Disease shortly after her 30th birthday, and speaking about the illness during an interview on Access Live in March, she said, "I didn't know if I would still be making music, but I started writing from my bed about my health battle. I turned to music and it was really healing for me."
