To headline 'Ian McKellen On Stage: With Tolkien, Shakespeare, Others... and You!' in November, the 'Lord of the Rings' actor looks forward to raise money for nonprofit organization Only Make Believe.

AceShowbiz - Sir Ian McKellen is returning to the Broadway stage for a one-night-only event to mark the 50th anniversary of his debut on the Great White Way.

The "Lord of the Rings" star will headline "Ian McKellen On Stage: With Tolkien, Shakespeare, Others... and You!" on 5 November at New York's Hudson Theatre.

"This year I've been having the time of my life, touring my new show across the U.K.," McKellen said in a statement. "Now, it will be an extra treat to return to Broadway, 50 years after my debut in NYC, especially as it will benefit the inspirational work of Only Make Believe. Please come and help me celebrate!"

The actor first stepped on the Broadway stage in 1967 for a production of "The Promise".

Proceeds from his one night stand in November will benefit the nonprofit theatre organisation Only Make Believe, which stages free productions for children in hospitals and care facilities throughout New York and Washington, D.C.
