French authorities have declined to pursue criminal charges against the 'Life of Pi' actor more than nine months after he got accused of sexual assault due to a lack of evidence.

AceShowbiz - French actor Gerard Depardieu will not face criminal charges over accusations of rape due to a lack of evidence.

Prosecutors in Paris began investigating the "Green Card" star last August (2018) after a 22-year-old actress and author, whose name was not released, claimed Depardieu had sexually assaulted her twice in one of his homes in the French capital.

The 70-year-old's lawyer, Herve Temime, vehemently denied the "groundless" allegations at the time, and now it has been revealed the case has officially been dropped.

On Tuesday, June 04, authorities announced they had declined to pursue the case after "numerous investigations" failed to indicate any such crime had been committed, reports The Associated Press.

Depardieu's representative has yet to respond to the news.
