The 18-year-old shares a heartbreaking post on Instagram Stories.

Ashley was just 20 when she became pregnant with her daughter, and she had a tight bond with her only child. In July last year, she posted an early birthday shout-out to Alexa. "My little angel baby and I so long ago," she wrote along with a throwback picture of her and her daughter. "Her bday is in 2 weeks and she will be 18!"

She continued, "Time flew, I could cry thinking about it but I know the closeness we share will never change no matter how old she gets. I truly love her more than any thing or anyone in this world! Happy early birthday bug! You'll always be my little girl! Ps-she used to hate when I dressed her like this cuz she thought it looked too boyish lol now she looks back at it and smiles @alexamassaroo my entire [heart emoji]."

Ashley was found unconscious at her home in Smithtown, New York in the early morning hours of Thursday. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Her death is currently under investigation, but police believe that no foul play was committed and list her death as "non criminal."

Meanwhile, her friend Rochelle Loewen revealed that Ashley suffered from depression before her death. "Dear Ashley, when you said you were in pain. Maybe I didn't understand to which extent," the WWE Diva wrote in her tribute post.

"You were supposed to be here in Vegas on this girls trip (which I'm on right now)," she continued. "We spoke yesterday. You said you were coming. Now. Now. Now, you're gone. I'm at a loss. I don't know how to prosess this quite yet. I miss you Ashely. I miss you already babe. We spoke no more than 24 hours ago." Hinting that Ashley probably took her own life, Rochelle added the hashtags, "#imsorry," "#ididntunderstand," "#depression," "#suicide" and "#careforyourfriends."

Another friend and wrestler Bull James also hinted that Ashley was struggling with her inner demon before her death as he tweeted, "This sucks. Ashley just started training at NYWC & was SO excited about wrestling again. Always had a smile on her face & was one of the most down to Earth people you could meet. If you're going through tough times, don't be afraid to reach out for help. RIP Ashley Massaro."

Ashley competed in "Survivor: China" in 2007 and appeared on the covers of several magazines, including the April 2007 issue of Playboy. She retired from the WWE in 2008, but began to prepare for a comeback in professional wrestling in 2017.
