AceShowbiz - BlocBoy JB's recent prison stay was short-lived. Hours after the rapper, whose real name is James Barker, was arrested on several criminal charges, he was released around 4:45 P.M. on Friday, May 3 after posting $15,000 bond.
His release was captured in a video, which saw him smiling brightly as he walked out of the jail along with his attorneys. "I'm about to go turn up," he said to the camera, referring to his performance at the Beale Street Music Festival. BlocBoy did perform at the annual festival, as the official social media accounts for the event posted photo of him spitting his bars in front of the crowd.
BlocBoy JB was arrested and booked at the Shelby County Jail on Thursday night. According to the local news report, he was at his home when police raided his premises. Authorities stated that the raid was a part of a multi-agency investigation and that they found four loaded guns, ammo drugs and a black scale. Police also said they saw several people passing around marijuana outside his home.
Being a convicted felon, BlocBoy wasn't allowed to be near weapons. In his defense, he told the police that the guns were going to be used for a music video shoot and that he didn't know it was loaded. At some point, the rapper got into a Ford Fusion and sped away from the scene. Police eventually pulled him over for speeding at Forest Hill Irene and Highway 385. At the time, they discovered a gun inside his vehicle.
BlocBoy was charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, speeding, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of controlled substance marijuana. Beside the "Look Alive" hitmaker, 20 other people were detained from the home.
