Days after Stefanie Sherk was found at the bottom of her family’s swimming pool, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner list asphyxia and drowning as contributing causes of her death.

AceShowbiz - The death of actor Demian Bichir's model wife has officially been ruled a suicide.

Stefanie Sherk's body was found at the bottom of the family's swimming pool by her husband, according to The Blast, and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has ruled the 43 year old died from anoxic encephalopathy - a condition where the brain tissue is deprived of oxygen resulting in loss of brain function.

Asphyxia and drowning were listed as contributing causes of death following an autopsy.

Reports suggest Sherk weighed herself down to keep her body at the bottom of the pool, and although emergency responders were able to resuscitate her and transport to a local hospital, she died eight days later, on 20 April.

Releasing a statement on Thursday, "The Hateful Eight" star Demian said, "It has been the saddest and toughest time of our lives and we don't know how much time it will take for us to overcome this pain."

"Stefanie's beautiful, angelical and talented presence will be immensely missed. We will hold Stefanie in our hearts forever. We thank everybody beforehand for their prayers and we respectfully ask for your understanding so we may grieve in peace and privacy in these incredibly difficult times. It is our sincerest hope that our beautiful Stefanie, my angel and love of my life, will rest in eternal peace."

Sherk's acting credits include "CSI: Cyber" and "Telenovela", while she also appeared in the films "Star Power", "Valentine's Day" and "Loco Love" and her husband's 2016 directorial debut, "Un Cuento de Circo" & "A Love Song".
