AceShowbiz - Actress Elizabeth Debicki is set to receive the Women in Film Max Mara Face of the Future Award.
The Australian actress has been selected as the 14th recipient of the annual award which is conferred to a rising star to acknowledge her social contributions, outstanding performing skills, style and grace. Past recipients include Alexandra Shipp, Zoey Deutch, Natalie Dormer, Kate Mara, and Emily Blunt.
Founded in 1973, Women in Film is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to promoting equal opportunities for women and encouraging creative projects by women in the screen industries.
The news comes as the statuesque "Widows" actress, who was awarded an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Award for her role in Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" in 2013, is expected to attend Max Mara's Milan Fashion Week show on Thursday, February 21.
The 28-year-old, who counts Cate Blanchett as a mentor, recently told London's ES magazine that she had a simple make-up trick to get around the British capital incognito.
"If I put a bit of lippy on before I jumped on the Tube, I would get (recognised by) maybe one or two people," she said. "But if I look like death warmed up on my way to rehearsal or something, nobody would blink. So basically: just don't wear lipstick. Which I don't."
Steve McQueen, who directed her in 2018 film "Widows", sung her praises in a profile of the star for Vogue Australia in October.
"The sky is the limit with Elizabeth as far as where her career could go; she's just exceptionally talented and she has the power to go wherever her character needs, and I'm not saying this lightly," he said. "How, why, I don't know, but some people have it and other people don't and she's got it."
Elizabeth, who has starred in films including "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" and "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." as well as the Emmy-nominated TV miniseries "The Night Manager", will be honoured on June 12 at the Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards, which will be held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
