AceShowbiz - The Forensic Medical Service has completed the autopsy on comedian Kevin Barnett. In a statement released to E! News, it's confirmed that the late "REL" co-creator's cause of death has been determined as complications from pancreatitis.

Explaining that his body was received on January 22 at 5:50 A.M., the Chief of the Forensic Medical Service stated, "The corresponding autopsy was carried out, which determined that the cause of death was: Non Traumatic Hemorrhage, caused by pancreatitis. At the moment his body is still in facilities of the Forensic Medical Service of Tijuana, waiting to be delivered to his family members who are performing the legal proceedings."

According to Mayo Clinic, pancreatitis "is inflammation in the pancreas" and can occur as acute and chronic pancreatitis, the later of which can last over many years. The clinic further details, "Mild cases of pancreatitis may go away without treatment, but severe cases can cause life-threatening complications."

Barnett passed away on Tuesday, January 22 in Tijuana, Mexico. Twentieth Century Fox Television and Fox Entertainment confirmed the sad news through a statement. "Our hearts are broken, as are those of everyone at 'REL', at the news of Kevin Barnett's passing. He was an incredibly funny, wildly talented man who had so much more to and so many stories to tell," so the statement read. "We send our thoughts and prayers to his friends and family during this difficult time."

Fellow comedians have sent condolences following news of his death, including Chelsea Peretti and Pete Davidson. While the "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star simply wrote, "I am so sad," the "Saturday Night Live" star said in a statement, "The world lost a great one today. One of our comedy family members Kevin Barnett has tragically passed. I love Kevin. I've known him for nearly 10 years and he's always been the sweetest and funniest."

"Always had a smile on his face. Was one of the few that treated me like a comic even when I was just 16 years old. He always made me feel part of the group," he continued. "Thank you Kevin for being in my life and blessing us with your talents and positive energy. This one really f***ed me up. You will be missed."
