'Magic Mike the Musical' will get its official opening on December 15 at the Emerson Colonial Theatre with previews starting from November 30.

AceShowbiz - Channing Tatum will give his "Magic Mike" musical a test run in Boston, Massachusetts this year ahead of a planned Broadway launch.
The actor, who worked as a stripper in Florida in his late teens, teamed up with top director Steven Soderbergh and turned his story into hit 2012 movie "Magic Mike", and it has since inspired a live strip-tease spectacular, which opened in Las Vegas in 2017 and in London in November (18).
Screenwriter and producer Reid Carolin previously revealed he was working on adapting the plot for a stage musical, with hopes of taking the show to Broadway, and now it's been announced "Magic Mike The Musical" will begin previews in Boston from 30 November.
An official opening will take place at the Emerson Colonial Theatre on 15 December, and run until 5 January 2020.
Both Tatum and Soderbergh are involved as producers, and Channing cannot wait for fans to watch the show.
"When we were shooting 'Magic Mike', I looked at myself in a thong and thought: 'Well Chan, say goodbye to your career!' " he shares in a statement. "So the idea that seven years later a Pulitzer Prize-winning creative team would be making a full-fledged musical prequel is definitive proof that God loves strippers."
"I couldn't be more excited about the next chapter in the Magic Mike story. So get ready, Boston. The road to Broadway begins on November 30!"
Casting details have yet to be announced, but "Lobby Hero" director Trip Cullman will direct the show, which features an original score by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, a book by "Glee", "Big Love" and "Riverdale" writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, and choreography by "Once On This Island" choreographer Camille A. Brown.
The musical serves as a prequel to the film franchise, and centres on college student Mike Lane, who takes on a job as a male entertainer to help make ends meet, while trying to hide his side gig from his dad and girlfriend.
" 'Magic Mike' was made for the Broadway stage," says Cullman. "I can't imagine a more creative and fun team of artists to collaborate with to make this show soar."
