AceShowbiz - One of the biggest nights for American movie and TV industry takes place on at The Beverly Hilton in California on Sunday, January 6. The annual 76th Golden Globes Awards, hosted by "Killing Eve" actress Sandra Oh and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star Andy Samberg, sees TV and movies stars being honored for their works in 2018.
The first actor to get the trophy at this year's award-giving event was Michael Douglas. "The Kominsky Method" actor was honored with an award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy for his performance on the Netflix series on which he stars as Sandy Kominsky.
Meanwhile, animated movie hit "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" was named as the winner of Best Motion Picture - Animated. The Sony flick bested the likes of "Incredibles 2", "Isle of Dogs", "Mirai" and "Ralph Breaks the Internet".
"We're in an alternate universe where we win this," Phil Lord said while accepting the trophy. Co-director Peter Ramsey later took to the mic and said to the audience. "Anybody can be behind the mask. We're counting on you!"
The next winner announced that night was Richard Madden. The "Game of Thrones" star snagged the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama for his stunning appearance on BBC series "Bodyguard".
"I didn't see this coming at all," said Madden said in his speech before thanking his fellow cast and crew. During his sweet, emotional speech, he also gave a shoutout to his parents who "flew all the way from Scotland."
"The Americans also went home with one of the biggest prizes. Starring Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell as the Jennings, the FX spy series won Best Television Series - Drama after wrapping up its story last year. Alongside other cast and crew, Rhys and Russell took the stage to accept the award.
