One day after Christmas, the 'Goodfellas' star, who had been put on a ventilator days before his passing, died at the age of 83 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

AceShowbiz - Actor Frank Adonis has died at the age of 83.

The "Goodfellas" star passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada on Wednesday, December 26, after battling health problems. According to TMZ, Adonis was suffering from kidney issues and was on dialysis and a ventilator days before his death. His family reportedly waited until after Christmas to take him off life support.

"He will be missed," his wife Denise tells the website. "He was a great father and an amazing husband. He helped all his friends he could. Great writer, director and actor. He was my best friend."

Adonis started his acting career in an uncredited part in 1971 film "The French Connection" and went on to star in classics "Raging Bull" and "Wall Street". He also appeared on the small screen in TV series like "The Equalizer" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent".

In addition to acting, Adonis also wrote movie "The Woods Have Eyes" in 2007 and directed "One Deadly Road" in 1998.
