AceShowbiz - Christmas miracle does come for Gretchen Rossi and her fiance Slade Smiley. After struggling with infertility for years, "The Real Housewives of Orange County" alum is finally pregnant with their first child. The engaged couple announced the happy news in the Monday, December 17 episode of "The Doctors".
Talking about her pregnancy, Rossi admitted that she still found it hard to believe that she's having a bun in the oven. "It's so wild. It still doesn't feel real," she confessed, as her husband jokingly said that they were "freaked out but in a good way."
Just like any other pregnant mothers, the former Bravo personality also experienced morning sickness, though she didn't expect that it would be really hard. "It's been a little harder than I definitely anticipated," Rossi said of her pregnancy symptoms. "I think they lie to you when they tell you you're gonna get morning sickness. They lie to you it's all day sickness! But the good news is that my doctor told me that's actually a good sign."
It's been a long journey to motherhood for Rossi and Smiley. The couple first started IVF four years ago, but unfortunately lost 14 embryos after the first round. The failure even made her want to take a break from trying for a baby as she was in a deep depression. She didn't give up in the end though, and was very grateful for the experience.
"All of this has been such an overwhelming journey, and so when you get to those little milestones, you know you're hearing the heartbeat," Smiley said on the talk show. "It's so exciting, but it's also relief."
While this will be the pair's first child together, Smiley already has two children from previous relationships. Rossi is due in July 2019.
