AceShowbiz - Did you see it coming? George Eads is set to exit CBS' drama reboot "MacGyver". The actor, who plays former CIA agent Jack Dalton since the reboot first launched in 2016, reportedly will leave the series during the second half of the show's current third season. Eads' last episode allegedly will air in 2019.
Representatives for Eads, CBS and CBS TV Studios have declined to comment, but sources claim to The Hollywood Reporter that the departure arrives after an altercation in October which led him storming off the Atlanta set. He left the set even though he still had "several remaining hours of production remaining for the day."
The report further suggests that the "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" alum has shared his thoughts on leaving the reboot of the iconic 1980s procedural to showrunner Peter Lenkov. Words are the producers "ultimately agreed" to end his contract. It is also said that Eads is looking to exit the Atlanta-based series in order to have some time together with his daughter who lives in Los Angeles.
This is not the first time for Eads to exit a CBS drama. The actor played Nick Stokes on "CSI" from 2000 to 2015 before he took a leave of absence from that series after an incident with a pregnant co-writer in 2013. Eads returned to the series only to ultimately leave "CSI" after 15 seasons in 2015. Although majority of the show's original cast members returned for the show's two-part series finale that aired later in the same year, the actor opted not to.
In addition, back in 2004, he was briefly fired alongside "CSI" co-star Jorja Fox due to a salary dispute.
"MacGyver" airs on Fridays at 8 P.M. on CBS.
