The planned project for Disney Play reportedly has Malcolm Spellman ('Empire') onboard as the writer.

AceShowbiz - Marvel is bringing its two heroes for a potential limited series on Disney's upcoming streaming service. A new report suggests that Falcon and Winter Soldier are set to team up on the project that has Malcolm Spellman ("Empire") onboard as the writer. Variety was the first to report.

Should the new report be true, the planned series marks the first of the proposed Marvel limited series to find a writer. Additionally, the project is now the third limited series developed for Disney Play following a Loki and Scarlet Witch solo series. Both Marvel and Disney decline to comment.

Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie are reported to suit up again as the superheroes. Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen are also expected to reprise their roles as Loki and Scarlet Witch respectively on the previously-reported series, which was said to have six to eight episodes.

Stan has played the role of James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes a.k.a. Winter Soldier in six MCU movies. He first debuted as the character in 2011's "Captain America: The First Avenger". As for Mackie, he has played Sam Wilson a.k.a. Falcon in five movies to date with 2014's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" marking his first appearance. The two will once again play the characters in upcoming "Avengers 4" that is slated to premiere in 2019.

Previous report stated that Marvel and Disney were planning to develop limited TV series centering on heroes who haven't received their own standalone movies. It means there won't be Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) TV series.
