Words are a planned Hawkeye project will see Barton training a young archer to be his replacement.

AceShowbiz - There have been reports that more Marvel characters will get their own solo films following the end of the studio's phase 3 and one of them is a solo Hawkeye movie. Now a new update regarding the project has emerged, revealing that it may see Clint Barton passing the baton to his protege.

According to MCU Cosmic, the planned project will feature Barton training a new younger archer to be his replacement. His successor could be Kate Bishop, who is the third character and first female to take the mantle as Hawkeye in the comic books. Bishop is a member of the Young Avengers.

It's very possible that Disney won't release any official statement about the Hawkeye project since it is still in some stage of internal development. MCU Cosmic suggests that the project could end up as an eight-episode series, but there's also a chance that it will be developed into a feature film.

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige recently said that fans would be soon seeing new incarnations of existing characters and the reported Hawkeye project is in line with his statement. Jeremy Renner, however, once said that he's not interested in doing a solo Hawkeye movie.

"I'm happy to be the ensemble. I'm not scratching or clawing to do a solo movie by any means. I think he's a utility guy that can bounce around into other people's universes a little bit," the Clint Barton depicter in Marvel's movies said back in 2014.

Another Avenger who is said to be getting a solo film is Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow. The actress reportedly has scored a huge $15M payday for the planned standalone film, which is eyeing a 2020 release.

Both Renner and Johansson will reprise their respective roles in "Avengers 4" along with Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Paul Rudd and many others. The movie is scheduled to open wide in U.S. theaters on May 3, 2019.
