AceShowbiz - Lil Wayne will celebrate his 36th birthday on Thursday, September 27, by releasing his long-awaited new album, "Tha Carter V".
The rapper announced the news during a "special surprise" video he posted online on Tuesday afternoon.
"I heard there was a misunderstanding about the release date of Tha CV," he said, referring to social media rumours suggesting the album was supposed to drop last week, September 21.
"I would like for y'all to know that since y'all stuck with me for like the last four or five years, through all of this, y'all got me feeling like Tiger Woods with this comeback. On my birthday, I actually have something special. I will be releasing 'Tha Carter V' on my birthday. Now, if you don't know when my birthday is, Wikipedia does..."
The album has been shelved for almost six years amid Lil Wayne's legal wrangle with his mentor and Young Money label co-founder Birdman.
The rap star first announced the project in 2012 and hinted it would be his last album.
He and Birdman ended their legal war over the album's release and royalties in July.
Shortly after confirming the release date, Lil Wayne posted a live countdown clock on his website.
