'E! will not be moving forward with another season of The Royals',' the network announces in a statement.

AceShowbiz - Elizabeth Hurley's TV drama The Royals has been dethroned at E!

TV bosses have opted not to bring the scripted series back for a fifth season.

"E! will not be moving forward with another season of The Royals, which launched in 2015 as the network's first original scripted series," an E! spokesperson tells Deadline.

"Over four seasons, The Royals took viewers behind the palace gates on a scandalous journey filled with twists and turns. We are grateful to the cast and our producing partners at Lionsgate and Universal Cable Productions".

The Royals' season four finale aired in May, five months after the series creator and executive producer Mark Schwahn was fired following an investigation into sexual harassment allegations.

Filming on the final E! season of the show had already been completed when Schwahn was let go in December (17).

Lionsgate TV bosses are reportedly shopping the show, about a dysfunctional, fictional royal family, to potential new networks.

Hurley's son Damian also appeared in the drama series.
