The man, who appeared on the TLC show earlier this year, was found dead by police during a welfare check on Thursday night.

AceShowbiz - James "L.B." Bonner, who recently documented his weight loss journey on "My 600-lb Life", was found dead at about 8:30 P.M. on Thursday night, August 2. According to a police report, he was found in a ditch with a gunshot wound in Lexington, S.C. He was 30.

Police found Bonner when they were making a welfare check upon someone's call. EMS was also called to the scene, which was nearby to his house. Circumstances surrounding his death are now under investigation.

Police have yet ruled Bonner's death as a suicide, but they are not looking for suspects. "As we await information from the coroner's report on Mr. Bonner's death, we are not seeking any persons of interest or suspects as part of our continuing work on the case," the Lexington’s Public Information Officer told Page Six.

Bonner, who lost his leg in an ATV accident in 2013, began abusing alcohol and eating endlessly after he lost his opportunity in sports after tearing his ACL. As he reached 642 pounds, the heaviest he had ever been, he started his weight-loss journey on "My 600-lb Life".

He underwent gastric bypass surgery and spent hours in the gym during the filming of the show. He trimmed off a whopping 316 pounds and kept shedding his weight even after filming the show.

"Doing the show has been an amazing journey not only for me but for my family as well," he said at the time. "It's changed my relationship with myself, my relationship with my family, my relationship with my friends, and it's giving me an outlet to motivate and inspire so many other people."

Before his death, Bonner shared a cryptic post on Facebook. "I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shown me love and support throughout my journey...I've realized a few things over the last few days and its time that, I face my demons head on..," he wrote.

He added, "No matter what you change or the efforts you put forth in life, sometimes you just have to take it on the chin and deal with things your own way...Again, thank y'all so much... Please don't ever let people you care about not know how you feel...."

TLC has released a statement on Bonner's death. "James 'LB' Bonner, who appeared on this past season of My 600-lb Life, has sadly passed away," it read. "On the show, viewers saw LB struggle with obesity following a tragic accident that claimed his right leg. Even though he once weighed 650 pounds, LB's hard work and dedication helped get him in the 200-pound range."

It continued, "His spirit and determination as displayed through his story, quickly made LB a fan-favorite, and family & friends have taken to LB's Facebook page to commemorate his life. TLC was deeply saddened to hear of LB's passing and is honored to have shared his honest and courageous story on My 600-lb Life."
