Fantagio is taking legal action against the actress after she terminated her contract and cut off contact with the agency.

AceShowbiz - South Korean actress Kang Han Na is facing a lawsuit after she allegedly cut off contact with her label Fantagio. The agency is now taking legal action as it claims that the actress had signed a contract which originally lasts until 2020, but she could not be reached by her label after her dating reports with Chinese actor Darren Wang resurfaced in April this year.

"After signing an exclusive contract with Kang Han Na in 2013, we have been faithfully managing her activities in terms of dramas, movies, advertisements, variety show appearances, and even her promotions in China," the agency says in a statement. "But in March of this year, we received from Kang Han Na a notice that contained a one-sided [decision] to terminate her contract. And though we have consistently tried to contact her, she has actually cut off contact [with the agency.]"

The company adds, "Kang Han Na has been promoting independently for the past four months, even negotiating drama appearances. We have come to the conclusion that this action is clearly a breach of the exclusive contract. Hence, we recently filled out an arbitration application form to the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board and will be taking legal action."

The 29-year-old actress, who starred on 2016's SBS drama "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo", was hit with dating rumors back in April. She, at the time, denied the reports through her label, saying she was not dating Darren Wang. However, when they were spotted together again a week later, she cut off all contact with the agency.

Fantagio addressed the situation at the time, "Until recently, Fantagio has been supporting and working for actress Kang Han Na's normal entertainment activities. We sincerely hope that she will continue to actively promote with the agency just like other artists under us who are actively promoting together with us right now."

"In addition, we are planning to try our best to actively communicate with Kang Han Na so that we can reach an amicable agreement," the agency continued. "However, if activities violating her exclusive contract with the agency were to occur, we will ask her to take legal and social responsibility through legal procedures in order for us to protect our rights and profits under the exclusive contract. Thank you."

Kang Han Na's decision to terminate her contract with Fantagio was reportedly due to internal conflicts within the agency. Chinese investment group JC Group recently dismissed then co-CEO Na Byung Jun and appointed Wei Jie as the sole CEO. Employees who resisted the decision chose to resign from their positions.

Kang Han Na recently appeared as special guest star on "Running Man" and will next be seen on tvN's "Familiar Wife", which is scheduled to premiere on August 1. She is scheduled to attend a press conference for the new series on July 25.
