The 'Pulp Fiction' director's next project was actually set to be unleashed on the 50th anniversary of Sharon Tate's murder before the release date is switched to July 26, 2019.

AceShowbiz - Sony Pictures has changed the release date for Quentin Tarantino's upcoming mystery crime "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" two weeks earlier than the actual premiere date. The studio previously announced that the project would be released on Augustus 9, 2019, which would mark the 50th anniversary of Sharon Tate and her friends' murders, but it is now switched to July 26, 2019 instead.

Sony has yet to give information about why they moved up the release date, but a source tells TheWrap that the anniversary had nothing to do with the premiere date change. The schedule was reportedly changed to give it a full month of play time for summer audiences. With that being said, Tarantino's ninth film would go against upcoming "Fast and Furious" spin-off "Hobbs and Shaw".

"Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" stars Leonardo DiCaprio as former actor Rick Dalton, and Brad Pitt as Rick's longtime stunt double Cliff Booth. Tarantino claimed at Sony's CinemaCon panel in April that the two lead actors would be the most exciting dynamic star duo since Paul Newman and Robert Redford.

The movie also stars other well-known actors, including Margot Robbie, Timothy Olyphant, Luke Perry, Damian Lewis, Dakota Fanning, Al Pacino, Emile Hirsch, Clifton Collins Jr., Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Keith Jefferson and Nicholas Hammond.

On the same occasion, Tarantino also stated that his next project's plot would not be based on Sharon Tate's murder. Instead, the murder of Sharon Tate would be used as the backdrop for the story. "It takes place at the height of the counterculture explosion," said the "The Hateful Eight" director. "It takes place at the time of the hippie revolution, and it takes place at the height of new Hollywood."

"Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" follows the life of Rick Dalton and Cliff Booth who struggle to survive in a new Hollywood that has moved on without them. One day, a rising star named Sharon Tate, portrayed by Margot Robbie, moves next to Dalton's house. After that, the rising star is murdered along with three others at her house on Cileo Drive.
