The forrmer England captain and Adidas ambassador has been chosen by the sportswear giant to be the face of the reissued classic soccer shoes.

AceShowbiz - David Beckham is fronting Adidas Football's new campaign for the reissued Predator Accelerator boots.

In the midst of World Cup fever, former England captain and Adidas ambassador Beckham has been tapped by the sportswear giant to be the face of the classic soccer shoes, which first hit shelves nearly 20 years ago. He is joined by French soccer legend Zinedine Zidane in the images.

Uploading campaign imagery starring the two sportsmen to Instagram, an Adidas representative wrote: "Straight from the archive. The #Predator Accelerator, revived by the original creators.

#LimitedCollection @davidbeckham @zidane #Football #Soccer #adidasFootball."

When the shoes originally dropped in 1999, only 999 were made. This time, Adidas is releasing 1999 pairs, with the shoes hitting shelves on Thursday, July 5.

Available in a unique Electricity colourway, solar red, solar yellow, and black, inspired by the original 1999 cleat, the reissued Predator Accelerators carry a $350 (£264) price tag for the cleats and $250 (£174) for the sneaker version.

Speaking in a video to promote the shoes, Beckham and Zidane both listed what they respect about each other when it comes to the beautiful game.

"The talent, that left foot, the love of the game, the creativity, the World Cup medal," Beckham stated to the camera, while Zidane added in French: "The class, the precision, the courage, the hair."

Taking time out of watching this year's World Cup games, Beckham, who celebrated England's penalty shoot-out win against Colombia on Tuesday, and wife Victoria Beckham marked their 19th wedding anniversary with sweet posts online.

"19 Years WOW ... This time 19 years ago I was dressed from head to toe in purple ... Happy anniversary to the most amazing wife & mummy ... Love You x @brooklynbeckham @romeobeckham @cruzbeckham #HarperSeven," the 43-year-old wrote, silencing divorce rumours surrounding the pair.
