AceShowbiz - Singer Shakira has gushed about her soccer star boyfriend Gerard Pique online after making his 100th appearance for Spain's national team.

The Barcelona defender earned his 100th cap for his native country on Wednesday, June 20, as Spain defeated Iran 1-0 in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Team bosses celebrated his achievement at a private gathering on Thursday by presenting Pique with a new jersey, featuring his name and the number 100 on the back, as his colleagues applauded and cheered him on.

Video footage was uploaded to Spain's official Twitter page, and Shakira, who is currently on tour in Europe, expressed her joy at the milestone by sharing the clip with her 52 million followers as she sent a sweet message to her man.

"Proud of you, 100 caps for the Spain national team!" the Colombian superstar captioned the post.

The couple, which shares sons Milan, five, and Sasha, three, began dating after meeting at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where Shakira performed the competition's official song, Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), as Pique helped Spain win the coveted gold trophy.

Spain will next face off against Morocco for their final game in the group stages on Monday, June 25.
