AceShowbiz - Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong had crewmembers panicking at a recent show when he threw a rented $5,000 (£3,775) guitar into a pool.
The "American Idiot" hitmaker was headlining a performance at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in Cannes, France on Wednesday, June 20, when he apparently destroyed the pricey instrument.
Armstrong was closing out the show, held at the luxury holiday property Villa Alang Alang, with the track "Time of Our Lives" when the shocking moment occurred, according to the New York Post's Page Six.
"Oh man, that's a rental," one of his crew members reportedly shouted. "It costs $5,000."
Another show-stopping moment came when the star slammed U.S. President Donald Trump for his controversial immigration policy.
"I f**king hate Donald Trump," he shouted. "It's like acid gone wrong... I didn't think this s**t was going to happen."
Armstrong is one of several celebrities to take issue with Trump's zero-tolerance immigration policy, which allowed law enforcement agents to detain minors away from their parents after they illegally cross over the Mexican border into the U.S.
"It's so important that we look out for each other and we show compassion for humanity and our neighbour," Armstrong told the crowd. "I don't know who it is in France, but in California it's called Mexico."
Trump has since signed an executive order to end the divisive decree.
