Ahead of the release of the much-anticipated track, Ariana shared on Instagram Stories on Monday, June 18 a teaser for the music video. The visuals for the song will debut exclusively on Reebok's website. Fans who want to watch the music video must sign up on the Reebok site, where an official countdown to the release is underway.
Ariana previously revealed how their collaboration came to happen in an interview with The Fader, saying that she auditioned eight rappers to be a guest feature. However, she admitted she "wasn't in love with any of it" and ended up asking Nicki whether she would be interested. Ariana went on saying that she "went in my slippers and pajamas" when the raptress asked her to come hear the verse, noting that Nicki "killed it."
"That's what Nicki Minaj does, she elevates a record," she gushed over her collaborator. "If you're going to have a rapper on a song, they need to really really really be there for a reason, and she does that every single time."
"Sweetener" will be available for pre-order on June 20. Days before fans could start pre-ordering the effort, Ariana shared a teaser for interlude track titled "Pete". The teaser featured her crooning over a minimalistic jazzy tune.
