The TV personality had a medical emergency while working out at a New York gym and was taken to the hospital.

AceShowbiz - Beloved American TV personality Montel Williams was hospitalised on Wednesday, May 30 after suffering a medical emergency while working out.

The star was exercising at a New York gym when he fell ill.

According to TMZ, he decided to rest in his hotel room, but when his conditioned worsened, he called for medical assistance.

"The Williams family will be forever grateful for the quick response from NYFD (New York Fire Department) and the excellent care he has received," Williams' representative Jonathan Franks said in a statement.

The 61-year-old, who has battled Multiple Sclerosis for over two decades, is expected to make a full recovery.

"He's doing well." Franks added. "We don't take any chances when it comes to somebody with Multiple Sclerosis".

Franks also noted Williams' disappointment in having to miss a public appearance on Friday.

"We just had to cancel a speech and he's extremely unhappy (about it)," he explained.
