The music video features the singer crooning the song while dancing with shirtless men and pretending to fly.

AceShowbiz - John Mayer is striving to be the new subject of meme through his new music video. The singer-songwriter released music video for his latest single "New Light" on May 24, saying he needed to make a video, "but nobody could agree on a budget, so I went to a place downtown and made this with a company that usually does birthday and bar mitzvah videos."

The Fatal Farm-directed video opens with Mayer, looking like he just rolls out of bed, standing in front of a landscape of a city and saying, "I'm John Mayer and I'm ready to be a star!" The scene then changes to show him crooning the song while being transported from a dusty farm to a ski slope, Eiffel tower and more. As if it's not cheesy enough, he is also seen dancing with shirtless men and pretending to fly.

" 'Cause if you give me just one night/ You're gonna see me in a new light/ Yeah, if you give me just one night," he sings while hilariously playing guitar. "To meet you underneath the moonlight/ Oh, I want a take two, I want to breakthrough/ I wanna know the real thing about you/ So I can see you in a new light."

"New Light" was released on May 10, marking his first release in 2018. It's still unclear whether the song will be included on his next album. In an interview with Zane Lowe of Beats 1, Mayer noted that the song "was not easy to write, lyrically. It was written out of sequence." He added, "I had to write the first verse in a way that would be reverse engineered to a place where as you heard it, it still made sense. There's code cracking involved. I went crazy for two weeks."
