AceShowbiz - If you think Shawn Mendes will not release any single since his album will be released soon, you're unfortunately wrong. The Canadian singer released a new single entitled "Nervous" on Wednesday, May 23.
The song features Shawn singing about the butterflies that people feel when they are around their crush. "I get a little bit nervous around you/ Get a little bit stressed out when I think about you," he croons. "Get a little bit excited/ Baby, when I think about you/ Talk a little too much around you."
"Nervous" is the fifth single off his upcoming self-titled album, following "In My Blood", "Lost in Japan", "Youth" featuring Khalid and "When Were You in the Morning". The song was co-written Julia Michaels. The latter dished on working with the heartthrob when she attended the 2018 Billboard Music Awards on May 20.
"We went on tour together, and we had talked about writing together and we just were like if it happens, it happens. No pressure," she said. "And we ended up getting in the room together. We wrote, I think, three songs in two days and two of them are now on the record and they're both just really intimate. One's really fun and we just have a really good chemistry in the studio, so it worked out great."
The "Issues" singer went on saying, "I think he just wants people to know who he is and how much he's grown. We had very similar conversations, talked about relationships and where he's at and just very personal things and it's important to him and I think that's amazing. And it's important to his fans, too."
"Shawn Mendes" will be released on May 25. In support of the album, Shawn will embark on a tour in 2019. He will kick off the trek on March 7 in Amsterdam, Netherlands and wrap it up on August 24 in Brooklyn, New York.
