The Irish band confirms the news on Instagram, with Ronan Keating promising that their last album will be 'the best record we've ever made.'

AceShowbiz - Irish band Boyzone has confirmed their next album and tour will be their last. The news the four-piece was considering calling it quits after 25 years together leaked out over the weekend (April 28-29), although bandmember Shane Lynch initially denied the reports.

However, on Monday Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, Ronan Keating and Shane officially announced on their Instagram page that they would make one more album before going their separate ways. "The news is out and yes, it's true... our new album will be the last for Boyzone," their statement read. "We've had twenty-five amazing years and we promise you that this will be our biggest and best year yet. Watch this space... #BZ25."

In a video posted to his Instagram page, Ronan apologized to fans that the news hadn't come from the band themselves and vowed to deliver the best Boyzone record to date.

"It's our final album, final tour," he said. "Time to hang up those dancing shoes. We're going to have one last hurrah. The album is unbelievable. I promise you you're in for a treat, it's the best record we've ever made."

Editors at British newspaper The Sun report that the group's final record will be a tribute to late member Stephen Gately, who died of natural causes in 2009 at the age of just 33.

In his online video, Ronan namechecked Stephen, saying, "It is sad, it's heartbreaking. Twenty five incredible years. On behalf of the four of us, and from Steo (Stephen), thanks very much for the support. Thank you for everything, let's enjoy the ride. It's not over."

Although the group, who was founded in 1993, went on hiatus for seven years in 2000, they never officially split up - despite pursuing solo and acting careers.
