AceShowbiz - John Cena's wish has been granted - he'll star in former wrestling foe Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's new movie. Johnson has cast the "Trainwreck" star as the lead in his upcoming film "The Janson Directive", and alerted followers on Twitter on Monday, April 30.
"Found my star!" he wrote. "Been a long time coming and congrats to my good bud John Cena... And if you screw up, I'm layin' the smackdown on ya."
The action thriller, based on a book of the same name by Robert Ludlum, was originally set to star Johnson, who will now produce via Seven Bucks, the company he founded with his ex-wife Dany Garcia.
Cena recently admitted he dreamed of working with his former ring rival-turned-friend in an upcoming "The Fast and the Furious" film.
"That stuff is beyond my control, but I would absolutely love that opportunity," he told Entertainment Weekly. "That, for me, would be a dream. I'm never really like, 'Oh, I'd like to work with this person', but I just think between our chemistry in the live performance setting, there's something certainly there with The Rock. So that would be my one name on the wish list."
