'I'm retired as Ash,' the actor announces on Twitter following the cancellation of 'Ash vs. Evil Dead'.

AceShowbiz - Bruce Campbell has opted to retire his cult zombie slaying character Ash Williams following Sunday's, April 22, series finale of "Ash vs. Evil Dead".

Campbell, who created the character for college pal Sam Raimi's 1981 classic horror movie "The Evil Dead", has announced plans to turn his back on the character via Twitter, calling the part "the role of a lifetime".

He tweets: "I'm retired as Ash."

Campbell played Ash in "Evil Dead 2" and "Army of Darkness 2" and reprised the role for the latest TV reboot, which debuted in 2015 and ran for three seasons.
