The 'Dexter' alum plays a father who takes matter into his own hands when his daughter disappears in a community, which prides themselves on being safe.

AceShowbiz - Michael C. Hall is back to lead a new crime drama series, almost five years since "Dexter" ended its run on Showtime. The actor shows his fake British accent on Netflix's upcoming series "Safe", which has released its first trailer for viewing pleasure.

The 47-year-old star portrays Tom, a pediatric surgeon who is raising his two teenage daughters Jenny and Carrie in a picturesque gated community after the death of his wife. One of his neighbors boasts about their neighborhood being a safe place.

Everyone seems to be recovering and thriving, until one evening, Jenny sneaks out to a party and goes missing. Tom takes matters into his own hands to search for his missing daughter and he begins unearthing dark secrets about the people closest to him.

Written by Danny Brocklehurst who wrote for U.K.'s "Shameless", "Safe" is created by crime author Harlan Coben. It also stars Amanda Abbington ("Sherlock"), Audrey Fleurot, Hannah Arterton, Emmett J. Scanlan, Marc Warren, Nigel Lindsay and Laila Rouass among others.

The 8-episode drama thriller is produced by Red Production Company, the Studiocanal-backed producer behind Happy Valley, for Netflix and France's Canal+. Hall serves as executive producer along with Harlan Coben, Nicola Shindler, Brocklehurst and Red's Richard Fee.

The new series is set to launch on May 10 on Netflix.

Hall recently starred in an episode of "The Crown" season 2, which is also streaming on Netflix, in a guest role as John F. Kennedy.
