AceShowbiz - Colin Trevorrow will be back directing the third installment of "Jurassic World". The movie's executive producer Steven Spielberg, who will also return to produce "Jurassic World 3", confirmed the news.

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Steven said, "Colin Trevorrow is going write and direct the third 'Jurassic World' story."

Colin told the site, "It's important to this franchise that we welcome new creative voices to keep our storytelling fresh and alive. I'm thrilled with the tension and beauty J.A. has brought to 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom', and I know [fellow writer] Emily [Charmichael] will add another layer of emotion to the concluding chapter of our trilogy."

Colin is currently working alongside "Pacific Rim: Uprising" writer Emily to pen the third installment of the dinosaur saga. In addition to Steven, Colin and Emily will join forces to produce the movie. Meanwhile, Frank Marshal and Pat Crowley return as producers.

The studio has dated the third installment for a June 11, 2021 release.

Colin was tapped by Steven to helm and co-write 2015's "Jurassic World" which earned $1.67 billion worldwide. In the first installment, Colin also voiced Mr. DNA.

He also penned the script for the upcoming "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" along with his "Jurassic World" co-writer Derek Connolly. The second installment, in which Colin also executive produced, was directed by J.A. Bayona. It will bow on June 22 in the United States.

In addition to working on the "Jurassic World" trilogy, Colin directed 2017's "The Book of Henry". In August 2015, Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn announced that Colin would direct and pen "Star Wars Episode IX". However, in August 2017, the studio brought Jack Thorne to rewrite the script which was penned by Colin and Derek as they were dissatisfied with their work. By September, Colin exited the project and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" director J.J. Abrams returned to take over his place as director for the film.
