If it all goes well, Dean Parisot will direct the third installment with a script written by Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson.

AceShowbiz - It's been nearly 30 years since Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter starred in time-traveling films "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" and "Bill & Ted's Bogus Adventure". Now, the two stars have revealed in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly that they are closer than ever to making a third film titled "Bill & Ted Face the Music".

The script is written by original screenwriters Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson. Reeves reveals that they've been trying to work on the script for ten years. "Chris and Ed pitched us an idea in 2007. It sounded great," he says.

The plot for the sequel itself will take place after the end of "Excellent Adventure", when futuristic mentor Rutus (George Calin) told Bill and Ted they would write music that would turn the world into utopia. But that has yet to happen.

"You're told you're gonna save the world. And now you're 50 and you haven't done it," Matheson says of the plot. "Now they're married, and it affects their marriages, and it affects their relationship with their kids, and it affects their everything."

Meanwhile, Solomon says that they will be visited by someone from the future who gives them a nudge, describing the third installment as a "kind of like 'A Christmas Carol' with Bill and Ted." He adds, "Looking at their lives, and really kind of discovering what they're about."

Solomon also says they're hoping to close a deal for financing within the next month. He says, "We are hoping to close a deal with some financiers. Hopefully within next month or so, we'll have news that will stick."

If it all goes well, Dean Parisot ("Galaxy Quest") will direct the third installment and Steven Soderbergh will join Scott Kroopf to produce the movie. Alongside Reeves and Winter, who will reprise their roles as Bill and Ted respectively, William Sadler will return as Death.
