After learning that contestant Benjamin Glaze hasn't ever kissed a girl before, Perry asks him to come to the judges table before surprising him with a kiss on the lips.

AceShowbiz - Benjamin Glaze, one of the contestants of "American Idol" reboot on ABC, had a rather unexpected moment during his audition. The 19-year-old cashier from Enid, Oklahoma, was featured in the premiere episode of the singing competition show. He was asked if he ever kissed a girl before, to which he responded, "I have never been in a relationship, and I can't kiss a girl without being in a relationship."

After learning that, judge Katy Perry asked him to come to the judges table. The "Swish Swish" hitmaker later surprised Glaze by kissing him on the lips.

In a recent interview with New York Times, Glaze revealed that the kiss made him feel "a tad bit uncomfortable." He added, "Would I have done it if she said, 'Would you kiss me?' No, I would have said no. I know a lot of guys would be like, 'Heck yeah!' But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted my first kiss to be special...I wanted to save it for my first relationship."

Glaze apparently was not the only one who found the encounter uncomfortable. Some viewers slam Perry for her action in light of the Time's Up movement. "It was a forced sexual act," a Twitter user wrote, "Imagine if this was from a male judge."

Looking at how people seemingly take his words wrong, Glaze later took to his Instagram account to clarify his previous statement about the audition which took place back in October. "I am not complaining about the kiss from Katy Perry at all, doing a few news reports and being interviewed by many different reporters have caused some major questions," Glaze wrote. "The way certain articles are worded is not done by me and my true intentions are not accurately represented in every article you read about the situation."

Glaze also said that he was not sexually harassed by the singer. "I do not think i was sexually harassed by Katy Perry and i am thankful for the judges comments and critiques. I was uncomfortable in a sense of how i have never been kissed before and was not expecting it," he explained. In fact, the now 20-year-old singer felt grateful because through that moment, he got more recognition for his singing career. "So in that way," he said to New York Times, "I'm glad she did it because it's a great opportunity to get my music out."
