A new speedster came to Central City in Tuesday, March 13 episode of "The Flash". Titled "Run, Iris, Run", the episode shocked fans with an interesting plot twist [SPOILER ALERT!] where Iris West (Candice Patton) gained a speedster superpower like her husband Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash (Grant Gustin).

It all came down when a new meta arrived with the ability to steal and transfer power into someone else. Now that it was mentioned, it didn't take a long time for Iris to be accidentally given Barry's speedster power. While Iris coolly donned a purple-streaked speedster and battled fire to save the city, Barry became a normal guy briefly.

In the episode, superhero Iris was seen creating a tidal wave by running on water in order to extinguish fire. "I think this episode clearly shows that having Barry's powers for an episode really made [Iris] realize what she's passionate about," Patton said after a screening of the episode. "She understands that Barry having speed is what gets him up in the morning…and I think it reignited for her that she still has to find that, and that journalism is a thing she has kind of put to the side to take up the mantle at STAR labs, but it's still a part of her and it's still the reason that she wakes up."

Fans were pleased with the unique plot twist as one of them wrote on Twitter, "#RunIrisRun @candicekp is crushing this episode. I'm over here screaming 'Go get 'em Iris' #TheFlash." Another fan gushed, " 'I need to prove to myself that the fearlessness is still in me.' #RunIrisRun."

A fan even wished that the power was not temporary. "Can we just keep Iris a speedster forever @candicekp #RunIrisRun," he said. Another fan added, "Loved seeing @candicekp as the Flash. I really hope it's something the show will revisit, even if it's an alternate earth. #TheFlash."
