AceShowbiz - Chris Brown still cares about Rihanna, years after they split up for the second time. As soon as the day began, the "Loyal" singer took to Instagram to wish his ex-girlfriend a happy birthday. RiRi turned 30 on Tuesday, February 20.
The R&B crooner posted a childhood photo of the Barbados-born singer with a simple caption which read, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY @badgalriri." While the message seems sweet, not everyone is impressed by Chris' birthday tribute for his ex.
"leave her alone demon," one wrote in the comment section. Another called out the father of one, "you're like that white kid in school that date rapes a girl then hits her up like nothing happened when she has a better life talmbout some 'hey.' "
Some others defended Chris' action. "LEAVE HIM ALONE... Bruh she forgave him. He only said happy birthday. Why y'all bugging," one hit back at the haters. Another added, "all he said was happy birthday so how is that affecting her or anybody in any way?"
There are also Chris and Rihanna shippers who wish them to get back together. "you need to get bae backkkk already omg," one wrote. Another comment read, "Awwwwwwww go Chris we need some good news."
Chris and RiRi first started dating in 2008. In February 2009, the "Kiss Kiss" hitmaker physically assaulted her in a rented car after attending Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy party, leaving his then-girlfriend with visible facial injuries.
He was arrested and charged with felony assault and making criminal threats. In June of the same year, Chris pleaded guilty to a felony and accepted a plea deal of community labor, five years of probation, and domestic violence counseling.
The two briefly reunited in 2012 and collaborated on a duet called "Nobody's Business". In May 2013, Chris confirmed that he and Rihanna had broken up again.
Meanwhile, Rihanna posted a cheeky Instagram post one day before she turned 30. The "Work" singer, who is currently dating Toyota heir and Saudi businessman Hassan Jameel, shared a picture of her rocking an "I hate Rihanna" T-shirt with the words "don't trust anyone under 30" scrawled below. She wrote on the photo, "last day to make a bad decision and blame it on my 20s."

She then turned the spotlight on her mother on her birthday. Posting an image of herself as a young child, she wrote, "10958 days ago @monica_fenty became a mother for the first time to her only daughter! Today is just as much your birthday as it is mine! I love you mom!"
"Thank you for carrying me, birthing me, raising me, supporting me, teaching me, and loving me unconditionally! The woman I am today is because of everything that you are!" she added. "I thank God for perfectly hand picking you to be my mother when He sent my spirit to you! You are the greatest! Thank you!"
