The 'Luther' star gets down on one knee and pops the question during the screening of his directorial debut 'Yardie' in a London theater.

AceShowbiz - Idris Elba and Sabrina Dhowre are getting hitched! The 45-year-old actor and his model girlfriend are engaged after he proposed to her on stage at an east London cinema on Saturday, February 10. Rio Cinema, the venue, took to its Twitter account to spread the news. "Another @riocinema first! Still 5 days to Valentines Day but @idriselba went down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend live on stage this morning before a preview of his film #Yardie," it tweeted.

Some eyewitnesses shared a video from the romantic proposal. Idris got down on one knee during the screening of his directorial debut "Yardie" and popped the question while presenting her with a ring. She said "yes" and they shared a smooch as the audience cheered on the couple.
Adnan Mustafa, who stars in "Yardie", shared details of the surprise proposal. "It was very unexpected, such a beautiful moment," he told Newsbeat. "Idris came on stage and thanked everybody for their hard work. He called his now fiance on to the stage and thanked her for being part of the journey with him, and then he proposed."
"We all stood up and clapped. I'm grateful I was there to witness it. It was such a beautiful moment. And that set the tone throughout the whole film for me," he went on gushing. "The lights went out and I already had tears in my eyes. Sabrina was so happy."
Idris and Sabrina met while he was filming 2017's thriller "The Mountain Between Us" in Canada. "Falling in love while making a movie about falling in love is pretty special," he said when promoting the movie.
The "Luther" star and the former Miss Vancouver pageant winner made their red carpet debut as a couple at the "Molly's Game" premiere during the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2017. "I think it's an interesting space, especially for her," he said at the time. "She'd never done a red carpet before and I tend not to do that. It was nice actually."
Idris was previously married to makeup artist Hanne Norgaard from 1999 to 2003, with whom he shares a 15-year-old daughter, Isan. He was later married to lawyer Sonya Hamlin for six months in 2006. The British actor was in a relationship with Naiyana Garth in 2013 and they welcomed their son Winston in 2014.
Last July, in an interview with Essence magazine, Idris said about relationship. "Am I ever gonna get remarried? I don't think so," he said. "Yeah, I don't think so. Marriage is an institution of sorts. And I've done it. It's not for everybody. It's not my life's calling." But he apparently has had a change of heart.
