Alongside the first trailer of the sophomore season, it has been revealed that the new season is scheduled to premiere on April 22 on HBO.

AceShowbiz - Finally, the first trailer of much-anctipated "Westworld" season 2 is here. Airing during the second half of Super Bowl LII, the 1-minute-and-a-half trailer offers new footage from the upcoming sophomore season of the hit HBO sci-fi series.

Created by series co-showrunner/co-creator Jonah Nolan, the Super Bowl ad opens with a breathtaking view of a vast land somewhere. It is followed by a scene of a young girl holding presumably her mom's hand.

Evan Rachel Wood's Dolores Abernathy can be heard saying in voiceover, "This beautiful world. We built this world together. A world where dreams come true." As a beautiful, soft piano playing at the background, she continues, "A world where you can be free."

The piano abruptly stops and a scene of a robotic bull attacking some armed men is flickering on the screen. Dolores, meanwhile, adds, "But this world is a lie. This world deserves to die. Because this is your world. We've lived by your rules long enough. We can save this world. We can burn it to the ground and from the ashes build a new world. Our world."

Featuring a slew of familiar faces such as Thandie Newton's Maeve Millat, Jeffrey Wright's Bernard Lowe, James Marsden's Teddy Floor and Ed Harris' Man in Black, the trailer glimpses a good portion of what to come in season 2. The trailer, which marks the first time HBO releases a Super Bowl ad in 20 years, also reveals that season 2 of "Westworld" will arrive on April 22.

Based on the 1973 film of the same name, "Westworld" is executive produced by Nolan, Lisa Joy alongside J. J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub and Bryan Burk. The series is set in the fictional Westworld, a technologically advanced Wild West-themed amusement park populated by android hosts.

Westworld caters to high-paying guests, who may indulge in whatever they wish within the park, without fear of retaliation from the hosts. Season 1 ended with the host overtaking the park. It is assumed that the danger may spill into other potential Delos parks.
