Barack and Michelle Obama's amazing romance has gotten their fans emotional on many occasions, and this time is not an exception. The former First Lady turned 54 on Wednesday, January 17, so it is only natural for Barack Obama to celebrate it in the sweetest way possible.

The former president shared on Instagram a picture of him staring lovingly at his wife as he wrapped his arm around Michelle's body. The picture wasn't the only thing that made fans swoon though, as he wrote sweet birthday wishes in the caption.

"You're not only my wife and the mother of my children, you're my best friend. I love your strength, you grace, and your determination," he wrote. "And I love you more each day, Happy Birthday. @MichelleObama."

Barack is so thoughtful of his wife that he even sent flowers and a romantic handwritten note to Michelle when she arrived at her office today. Michelle shared on Instagram pictures of the said presents, writing in the caption, "Thank you @BarackObama for the beautiful flowers waiting for me in the office this morning."

"You're my best friend, biggest fan, and getting notes and flowers from you will never get old," she continued, before thanking all her fans who also sent her birthday wishes. "And to many people from around the country who sent cards and posted on social media, you have no idea how much we love hearing from you. I know birthdays can sometimes be bittersweet (54!), but your message of hope, generosity and warmth have always reminded me how lucky and blessed we are."

Both posts made fans on social media feel emotional, as many of them took to the comment sections to express their love for the couple. "We miss you and Barack so much it hurts and never fails to bring tears to my eyes just thinking of you," an Instagram user commented on Michelle's post. "Those eight phenomenal years with you were miraculous."
