'Krypton' First Trailer Offers First Look at Adam Strange

The time traveler, played by Shaun Sipos, can be seen warning Seg-El that 'someone from the future is coming to destroy Krypton' while holding what looks like Superman's iconic cape.

AceShowbiz - Syfy has unearthed the first full trailer of its upcoming series "Krypton". Released at the Television Critics Association press tour, the 1-minute-and-16-second trailer gives a better look at the Superman prequel series, including offering the first look at Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos).

The trailer opens with Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) saying in voiceover, "The story of my family is one of triumph and sacrifice. How we led a revolution against tyranny, now it falls on my shoulders to save my world."

Adam Strange, an Earthly time-traveler, later is featured. He can be seen warning Seg-El, the grandfather of Kal-El (Superman), that "someone from the future is coming to destroy Krypton." Seemingly being asked about where he comes from, Adam, who appears to be holding Superman's iconic cape, explains, "[In] where I'm from, your grandson becomes the greatest hero of the universe."

Set two generations before the destruction of Superman's home planet, "Krypton" follows Seg-El in his attempts to bring order to the House of El and his planet. He is put in such a tough position, which he has to choose whether to save his planet from destruction or let it happen to let Superman meet his destiny.

"You can tell [from that trailer] that time travel is involved, and what that means is history could be changed, and what happens in this show could be very different from the backstory that people know," EP David S. Goyer told reporters at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour on Tuesday, January 9. "A lot of people know that Krypton blows up and that's what caused Superman to come to Earth, but this is really an untold story."

Of Adam Strange, DC Entertaiment CCO Geoff Johns said, "He's an unlikely hero. He's the unlikely choice of shouldering this burden of trying to stop someone from the present trying to prevent this Superman legacy... Adam Strange is a character that doesn't really embody what Superman does as far as honor and justice, doesn't really know right from wrong, but looks up to Superman."

Featuring a slew of DC Comics characters such as Dev-E, Kem, Doomsday, Hawkgirl and Brainiac a.k.a. Vril Dox, "Krypton" premieres on March 21 on Syfy.
