The new season seemingly is poised to show Arie's sentimental side as the special, titled 'Countdown to Arie', featured him shedding tears.

AceShowbiz - Prior to premiering the new season of "The Bachelor" with Arie Luyendyk Jr., ABC aired a one-hour special, titled "Countdown to Arie", on Monday night, December 11. The episode gave Bachelor Nation an insight into the upcoming season 22 as well as gave the fans idea of what to expect from the race car driver's season.

The special episode teased at the end of the season, Arie did find his dream girl after failing to get Emily Maynard's heart on "The Bachelorette". The 36-year-old looked dapper in a blue suit while holding a ring box. "I'm nervous, I'm scared -- I'm going to tell this girl that I love her. And hopefully get down on one knee."

But, his journey to find his girl was definitely not drama-free. In the new season, Arie had to face an unexpected competition, coming from one of the 29 girls' ex. Without showing the man's face, the special featured a male voice saying, "I don't want to be on this show, I want my girl." The man added, "I'm here to get her back. I'm here to tell her that I want to marry her. I want my girl, I want to get her back."

Arie was understandably shocked by the situation. "It's just kind of blowing my mind that he's here," Arie shared. "It's f***ing upsetting. I'm angry -- I'm angry that he's here."

The new season seemingly is poised to show Arie's sentimental side. He was seen shedding tears in the special, with another scene featuring him being deep in thought while perching in what looks like a park bench.

The special episode also suggested plenty of drama between the 29 women vying for his final rose, involving plenty of tears and fights. "It's going to be absolute mayhem and carnage -- because women are ruthless," one of the women said. Host Chris Harrison teased that the new season would have plenty of "sexy romance, crazy emotional drama, and, of course, true love."

Arie's season of "The Bachelor" is set to premiere on Monday, January 1, 2018 at 8 P.M. on ABC.
