AceShowbiz - EXO is continuing their tradition of releasing Christmas special album. SM Entertainment, the company behind the popular Korean boyband, confirmed the news on November 23. "EXO is planning on releasing a Christmas special album in December. Please look forward to it," a representative for the company stated.
It has been reported that the release of the album will be around December dates of their upcoming "Exo Planet 4 - The ElyXiOn" tour, which will kick off on November 24 at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. It's still unknown whether or not member Lay will participate in the album's promotion. Should he not participate, it means that Lay doesn't participate in the group's activities at all this year.
The upcoming Christmas album will follow the group's previous Christmas albums, including "For Life" (2016), "Sing for You" (2015), "December, 2014 (The Winter's Tale)" (2014) and "Miracles in December" (2013). SM Entertainment previously explained that the reason why EXO always released a Christmas special album was because they wanted to give a special Christmas gift for fans.
"The special Christmas album that EXO releases every December is meant to be a special Christmas gift for all of EXO's fans," a representative for the company stated. "By releasing winter songs of a high caliber in December, the members hope to express their gratitude for the fans who have given the group their unwavering love and support throughout the year."
In addition to the Christmas special album, EXO, who debuted in 2012, is currently busy preparing for their first Japanese album "Countdown". The 9-piece boyband has released six music video teasers for the title track, where the members are seen interacting with mysterious elements. One of the members, Chanyeol, is seen suffering from electrocution and later transforming into a demonic figure.
The music video for "Countdown" will be released on January 24, 2018.
