AceShowbiz - Mariah Carey is canceling the first several shows of her upcoming "All I Want for Christmas Is You" tour due to upper respiratory infection. The 47-year-old songstress took to Twitter on November 15 to announce the cancellation, stating that the illness came after she suffered from flu.
"Lambs! Just in time for the holiday gift-giving season," she wrote. "It seems I've received a present of my own; a lovely upper respiratory infection after last week's flu. Bleak! You know there is nothing I love more than celebrating the holidays with my festive Christmas show, but I have to take my doctor's orders and rest until he says I can sing on stage."
Mariah concluded her post by saying that she would try her best to recover so that she could return to stage again. "Until then, unfortunately, I have to cancel the first several shows of my upcoming Christmas tour. I'm going to do all that I can so that I can see you soon!" she continued, adding a few festive emojis.
The "When You Believe" hitmaker was supposed to kick off her annual Christmas tour on November 17 in Windsor, Canada before stopping in Chicago on November 18 and Bethlehem on November 19. However, with her recent health update, it is unknown when the pop superstar will begin her tour.
Her show cancellation aside, Mariah debuted a holiday movie entitled "All I Want for Christmas Is You", which is based on her children's book of the same name, on November 14. Produced and narrated by the songstress, the movie follows young Mariah, who sees a cute puppy named Princess at the pet store and suddenly knows exactly what she wants for Christmas. However, she must prove that she can pet-sit Jack, a naughty dog who ruins Mariah and her family's holiday preparation.
"All I Want for Christmas Is You" is available on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download.
