The 'Suicide Squad' star makes an incredible transformation into the disgraced figure skater in the first teaser trailer for the upcoming biopic, which is coming to U.S. theaters on December 8.

AceShowbiz - The first teaser trailer for upcoming biopic "I, Tonya" has been released by Neon for fans' viewing pleasure. In the nearly-1-minute video, star Margot Robbie makes an incredible transformation into former Olympic superstar Tonya Harding.

"America: it wants someone to love. But they want someone to hate," Robbie's Harding says, reenacting Harding's historic completion of a triple axel at the 1991 World Figure Skating Championships. "And the haters always say: 'Tonya, tell the truth!' "

As Robbie's Harding pauses, a brief shot featuring her holding a telescopic baton, which is similar to the one Harding used to strike the leg of fellow Olympic competitor Nancy Kerrigan, plays. Robbie's Harding then asserts, "There's no such thing as truth, I mean, it's bulls**t!"

"I, Tonya" is set to be released in limited theaters in the United States on December 8 this year. Based on the unbelievable but true events, the film is dubbed a darkly comedic tale of American figure skater Tonya Harding and one of the most sensational scandals in sports history.

Though Harding was the first American woman to complete a triple axel in competition, her legacy was forever defined by her association with an infamous, ill-conceived and even more poorly executed attack on fellow Olympic competitor Nancy Kerrigan.

Directed by Craig Gillespie from a script written by Steven Rogers, the upcoming R-rated film is also described as an absurd, irreverent and piercing portrayal of Harding's life and career in all of its unchecked-and checkered-glory.

In addition to Robbie, the film stars a mustachioed Sebastian Stan as Harding's impetuous ex-husband Jeff Gillooly. It also features a tour-de-force performance from Allison Janney as Harding's acid-tongued mother LaVona Golden and Caitlin Carver as the disgraced figure skater's most imposing competitor, Kerrigan.

Other cast members include Julianne Nicholson, Mckenna Grace, Bojana Novakovic, Paul Walter Hauser and Bobby Cannavale.
