AceShowbiz - Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for "Blockers" for fans' viewing pleasure. The red-band trailer introduces John Cena, Leslie Mann and Ike Barinholtz as three parents who, after discovering their daughters' pact to lose their virginity at their high school prom, attempt to put a stop to it.
The nearly-3-minute video opens with the three parents meeting for the first time when they drop their still-middle-schooler daughters at their school. The trailer then jumps to a scene where the parents try to decode the over-the-top emojis that their now-teenage daughters use to talk about sex. They then agree to stop their daughters from having sex.
Elsewhere in the trailer, Cena's character appears to hate chest-bumping with his daughter now that she's grown up because he's weirded out by unwittingly coming into contact with her breasts. The trailer also gives a glimpse of the parents arriving at their daughters' high school prom, with Cena's character later accepting his daughters' friends' challenge to chug beer through his butt.
"Blockers", previously titled "The Pact", marks the directorial debut of Kay Cannon, who is best known for writing the "Pitch Perfect" movie series and creating Netflix's show "Girlboss". The comedy tells the story of three parents who stumble upon their daughters' pact to lose their virginity at prom and launch a covert one-night operation to stop the teens from sealing the deal.
The film is scheduled to be released in theaters across the nation on April 8 next year. It's co-written by Eben Russell, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, Brian Kehoe and Jim Kehoe, while serving as producers are Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Chris Fenton.
The comedy flick also stars Kathryn Newton, Graham Phillips, Gideon Adlon, Jake Picking, Ramona Young, Rhoda Griffis, Miles Robbins and Sarayu Blue.
