AceShowbiz - The first official trailer for the long-awaited "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" is finally here. Debuted during the series finale of "Teen Wolf" on Sunday, September 24, the video sees Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) and friends trying to return to the maze they escaped from for their final and most dangerous mission yet.
To save their friends and find the cure for the disease known as "The Flare," they must break into the legendary Last City, a WCKD-controlled labyrinth that may turn out to be the deadliest maze of all. Anyone who makes it out alive will get answers to the questions the Gladers have been asking since they first arrived in the maze.
But along the way, Thomas is confronted with the questions "Is there really a cure?", "Can he save everyone?" and "Does he have to sacrifice his friends to save everyone?"
"The Death Cure" was originally planned to be released on February 17 this year, but has been pushed back due to O'Brien's on-set injury in March last year that forced the production to be put on hold. The filming resumed earlier this year and the movie is now set to open in theaters across the nation on January 26, 2018.
"I really was in a dark place there for a while and it wasn't an easy journey back," O'Brien said of his long road to recovery after the accident. "There was a time there where I didn't know if I would ever do it again... and that thought scared me, too." He continued sharing, "In a lot of ways, those six months went by like that. And then, in a lot of ways, I can still remember that six months as if it was five years of my life."
Wes Ball still serves behind the lens, with Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Katherine McNamara, Nathalie Emmanuel, Rosa Salazar, Patricia Clarkson, Barry Pepper, Giancarlo Esposito and Walton Goggins among the cast members.
