The 'Twilight' alum takes it to Twitter to respond to the backlash after her husband said he threw out her pills to get her pregnant.

Nikki Reed responded to backlash faced by her husband Ian Somerhalder. He landed in hot water after revealing that he flushed her wife's birth control pills down the toilet. "Actually, now thinking about it, I guess I kind of decided [to start a family]," he quipped.
"Oh yeah...when you threw out all my birth control pills," so the former "Twilight" actress opened up in an interview on Dr. Berlin's Informed Pregnancy Podcast. Her actor husband explained, "We decided that we wanted to have children together, and it was just time."
"But unbeknownst to poor Nikki, she didn't realize that I was going to go in her purse and take out her birth control ... By the way, it was the beginning of the pack, so I had to pop all those suckers out. It is a lot of work, especially after a little bit of Sangria," he said, adding that he captured it on camera including the moment when she was freaked out about it.
"Ian somerhalder is f**king disgusting how do you make a joke about throwing away your wife's birth control," one commented. Another criticized Nikki, "Ian somerhalder recorded his wife hyperventilating about her (missing) birth control that he threw out & she's still with him....lmfao bye."
The Damon Salvatore of "The Vampire Diaries" hasn't responded to any of the critics but Nikki has. She took it to Twiitter to address the backlash. "WOMEN'S RIGHTS MATTER, so please don't use false narratives to highlight issues that are truly important!" she wrote. "We should be talking about these things,but using a funny interview between married ppl &twisting it to perpetuate gossip is irresponsible."

She added, "When you actually listen to the podcast, you'll hear how unforced I felt. Also, 'unconsented' bulls**t is you speaking on my behalf in a story admittedly taken out of context for the purpose of stirring up drama without my approval."
She continued to fire back at the media, "Don't talk about consent to me. And lastly, how dare you try to cast a dark shadow over one of my happiest, most memorable days of my life - you're not only disrespecting me but my baby. Oh, and next time you try to stand up for women by writing an article about 'women's rights', try properly conveying how I felt. It's a shame that this was your way in. You have a platform, write about things that matter by using truthful stories, not gossip."

Ian Somerhalder started dating Nikki Reed in 2014. They got engaged in February 2015 and swapped wedding vows in April the same year. They welcomed daughter Bodhi Soleli in July this year. She initially wanted to give birth at home but eventually decided to go to hospital. "The birth that I always wanted was a home birth with no lights, no one talking, no intervention of any kind," she said on the podcast. "I wanted to be peaceful, quiet, alone."
