'The Defenders' Is the Least-Watched Marvel's Series on Netflix, Study Finds

According to Jumpshot, the series only managed to pull in 17 percent of the viewership that 'Daredevil' season two gathered in the first 30 days.

AceShowbiz - Do you see it coming? Marvel's The Defenders are apparently weaker than they are as solo vigilantes. A new study suggests that the Netflix show, featuring Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage, is the least-watched Marvel-related series on the streaming giant so far, despite the hype.

According to an analysis by Jumpshot, a marketing-analystic firm, "Marvel's The Defenders" only managed to pull in 17|percent| of the viewership that season two of "Daredevil" gathered in the first 30 days. The study was based on Netflix U.S. subs who watched at least one episode of each series.

The study further suggested that the previous premieres of "Marvel's Iron Fist", "Luke Cage" and "Marvel's Jessica Jones" performed relatively equal in the first 30 days, accounting for 28|percent|, 27|percent| and 26|percent| of the viewership of "Daredevil" season 2. Jumpshot also stated that "Marvel's The Defenders" had the largest week-over-week drop in viewership. It fell by 67|percent|, 48|percent| and 41|percent|, respectively, over the 30-day period.

People assume that the bad results are inevitable as each heroes appeals to different kinds of viewers. Some others, meanwhile, think that the lackluster marketing campaign may be the one to blame. Prior to its August 18 premiere, fans were offered with a series of arguably lame posters and trailers, featuring the heroes in their civvies.

"Marvel's The Defenders" follows Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Iron Fist (Finn Jones) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter). The quartet team up with one common goal-to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.

While it remains to be seen whether Netflix will hand out a sophomore series order for "Marvel's The Defenders", fans still can get to see the individual street heroes on their respective shows on the streaming giant. "Marvel's Iron Fist" was renewed for a second season, while "Marvel's Jessica Jones" just recently wrapped up its second season filming. "Luke Cage" is currently filming its sophomore season with the production of third season of "Daredevil" being scheduled to start soon.
