The 'Logan Lucky' actor remembers playing a mean joke on his then-girlfriend and making her cry, which led him to get panic.

AceShowbiz - Channing Tatum recalled how he popped the big question to Jenna Dewan. In an interview with BBC Radio One's "The Breakfast Show With Nick Grimshaw", the actor revealed he made the actress teary with his "cruel" joke.

"When I proposed to my wife I did something pretty cruel because I thought she was on to me. I basically told her I never wanted to get married to try to throw her off," he said. "I told her, 'I don't believe in the institution of marriage and I don't think I ever want to get married.' She basically broke down crying."

The "21 Jump Street" actor remembered getting panic when he saw how upset Jenna was. "I thought, 'This is not going well at all,' so I had to propose to her sooner rather than later," he said.

Channing Tatum, 37, started dating Jenna Dewan, 36, after they first met on the set of their movie "Step Up" in 2006. The couple tied the knot in 2009 and welcomed their first child, a daughter named Everly, in 2013.

Little Everly, however, was not fun of "Step Up" when they showed it to her. "She was just like, 'Can I watch a real movie? This is bad,' " Channing said. "She didn't think it was a real movie. She just thought it was a movie we made on our iPhones or something."

But their daughter loved the Las Vegas version of his stripper movie "Magic Mike". He revealed, "She loves the dancing, it's great. There's a couple of parts in the show where we're like, 'Alright, let's maybe take her outside for this.' "

The actor is currently on a press tour to promote his upcoming movie "Logan Lucky". His next movies include "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" and superhero movie "Gambit".

The X-Men spinoff has been in development hell for a long time, but Channing saw it as a good thing. "We got hit with some setbacks and it was all for a good reason," he told HeyUGuys. "We were trying to do something completely different."

The movie is now back on the drawing board. "We were trying to do something that this genre of movie hasn't seen before," he explained. "We kept running into the same problems, and then Deadpool and Logan came through and kicked the doors down. Now we're really getting to do some of the things we've always wanted to do with the script - we've just sort of started over."
